Supplementing the evidence from studies of adult dyslexics and controls, we have also shown that visual motion sensitivity may be influential in developing sensitivity to the orthographic information available in text, as measured in tasks such as exception word reading and word/pseudohomophone (rane v. rain) judgements.

This presentation will discuss new evidence to link the poor reading skills of dyslexics to specific visual processing deficits.

We will also discuss the potential mechanisms of these deficits and how they might be plausibly related to the component reading skills necessary for the development of proficient literacy skills.
