National Merit Corporation Scholarships

  National Merit Corporation Scholarships WSU is a sponsor of the National Merit Corporation Scholarships. At least four National Merit finalists who have identified WSU as their college of first choice will receive awards ranging from $500 to $2,000. Some of these awards are renewable for as many as four years. To qualify for this award simply take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test your junior year in high school. Test scores, academic and extracurricular achievements, and school recommendations are the criteria for selection.


  Congratulations to Ypsilanti High School senior John Good, who is a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist. John maintains a 4.0 GPA, is a member of the National Honor Society, Senior Cabinet, founder and editor-in-chief of the student newspaper "The Ypsi Times," a member of Key Club, the Varsity Tennis team, Chamber Singers, Mock Trial participant and is a recipient of the Altarum Award for peer-reviewed scientific research. Congratulations John on another accomplishment.

National Merit Scholarship Finalist

  Mahar Student is a National Merit Scholarship Finalist Kyle Gilman, a senior at Mahar has become a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. This places him in the top 1% of seniors in the country. He is now eligible to win a $2,000 scholarship which will be given to 2,200 finalists. Kyle is pictured above with Dr. Zak, Mahar's principal.

CMSF - Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation

  CMSF recognizes that many BC students may have difficulty obtaining the sponsorship of their schools and/or their transcripts in order to apply for the awards by the deadline. If you are a sponsored applicant, you should ask your principal to complete section II on page 10 of the application and mail your application to be received by the nearest area committee no later than October 25, 2005. Most principals are working during the job action. If you are not able to obtain the sponsorship from your principal, you should apply through the direct pool. The deadline for applications to be received for the direct pool is November 4, 2005. CMSF will make accommodations for the expected greater volume of direct pool candidates from BC in the selection process. If you cannot obtain your transcript, you should send in your completed application.   About one-third of those who seek scholarships from SIT Study Abroad receive financial assistance to participate in our programs. Awards generally range from $500 to $4,000.
