In 2001, the Asian Liver Center launched its Jade Ribbon Campaign to help spread awareness about hepatitis B and liver cancer in the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) population.

In particular, the Asian Liver Center hopes to reach out to the youth population, and thus believes that high school students are an essential key to spreading the Jade Ribbon Campaign's message.

The Jade Ribbon College Scholarship will be awarded to California high school students who create and implement outstanding Hepatitis B Outreach Projects.

Must find an adult advisor (teacher, club leader, etc.) who can provide guidance and support.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers scholarships on a competitive basis for community college, four-year college, and graduate students of Hispanic heritage.

To be eligible, students must: be of Hispanic heritage (one parent must be fully Hispanic or both parents must be half Hispanic); be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident (with permanent resident card); have earned at least 15 undergraduate college credits in the U.S. or Puerto Rico with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale (3.7 on a 5 point scale); and be attending an accredited U.S. college full-time from Fall 2001 through Spring of 2002.

FPI started its Scholarship Grant in 1990, to support deserving but economically disadvantaged university students as they pursue a course leading to a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or any related field of Information Technology.

The FPI scholar must take a course in Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field of Information Technology, and must additionally take Japanese language lessons.

Qualification is based on the recommendation of the individual schools, which is generally based on past scholastic achievements of the applicant, as well as his potential scholastic/professional capabilities.
