There are three governing bodies, for collegent athletics, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

For participation in NCAA Division I and II, you have to register with the Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse.

Potential student-athletes must register to be certified to attend a Division I or II college or university.

The registration form will be mailed to you in your registration packet from ScoutingOnline, or you can receive one through your high school guidance counselor.

(NOTE: It is very important to start your recruitment efforts early, at least the 9th or 10th grades. And, depending on the sport, a college coach may not be able to contact you until you have finished your Junior year(11th), but you are allowed to contact them.)

Nicholas also announced that with trustee support full funding had been obtained to establish the $750,000 endowment required for a women's athletic scholarship in Keohane's name.
