The Mountaineer Athletic Club's Athletic Endowment Fund (AEF) represents a long-term
resource that can help offset the financial strains of providing scholarships
to WVU student-athletes.
The West Virginia University Foundation invests
the initial gift, which must be a minimum of $50,000 over a maximum five year
period to endow one athletic scholarship.
The Department of Intercollegiate
Athletics may then only spend a portion of the annual investment return to offset
the rising costs of scholarships.

You need to have an understanding of the benefits and limitations of college athletic
financial aid and what part they play in the financial aid process.
Grants
in aid, are awarded to individuals in return for competing on a college's sports
team.
Athletic scholarships do not need to be paid back, they are an important
component of the total financial aid equation; for more detailed information go

NJCAA division 1
colleges may offer athletes a full athletic scholarship, division 2 colleges may
only offer partial scholarships that cover tuition, fees and books while division
3 colleges cannot offer any.

Naval Academy Athletic and Scholarship Program, a division of the United States
Naval Academy Foundation, encourages and supports athletic excellence at the Naval
Academy.
The Program is responsible for grants and awards that recognize
superiority in athletics and a comprehensive scholarship program to ensure that
the Naval Academy has the best scholar-athletes in the nation.
Through
a scholastic program, the Foundation is able to provide one year of post-high
school education to qualified young men and women who need further academic preparation
to enter the Naval Academy.
Of those 81 candidates, 13 were recruited
athletes in keeping with NCAA rules that limit to 25% the proportion of recruited
athletes to the total population.
