scholarship process answered.
To get recruited and be in line for athletic
scholarships you must let the coaches know who you are and why you deserve to
play college sport.
Who can make my goal of playing college sport and
getting an athletic scholarship happen?
The college coach is looking for
an athlete that will fit in and help the program succeed.
Each college
association has its own rules and regulations for recruiting and eligibility.
To participate in NCAA Division 1 and 2 athletics as a freshman you must meet
minimum academic requirements and register with the NCAA Clearinghouse.

Choosing Stanford meant that I didn't have to make any compromises.
Like
any students with unusual talent, these student-athletes work hard to meet the
demands of a Stanford education.
Like the entire budget for intercollegiate
athletics, athletic scholarships are not supported by the university's general
funds.
Each year the Department of Athletics expends more than $10.5 million
in scholarship support.
While the Buck/Cardinal fund will continue to
be a vital resource, Stanford seeks both to decrease the department's reliance
on annual gifts and to add 30 new endowed athletic scholarships.
Endowed
scholarships represent a deeply rewarding bond between donors and students.

obstacle that the Bulldog program has to overcome each year is asking a student-athlete
to choose to attend Yale instead of accepting an athletic scholarship at a different
program.
"Yale, in general, loses a good number of student athletes
who are qualified by our standards," said Tim Taylor, head coach of the men's
ice hockey team.
Some feel the Ivy League should change its policy on
athletic scholarships in order to level the playing field for the "Ancient
Eight" among the NCAA's other Division I programs.
Others believe
that the drastic effects of such a change are not worth damaging the character
of Ivy League athletics.

When my teammates and I perform well, the school makes lots of money from gate
receipts, and they receive large endorsements from athletic apparel companies.
Most high school athletes dream of receiving a full college athletic scholarship
to a NCAA division one program as the thought of going to school without paying
for books, boarding, food or tuition sounds divine.
Exploitation is a
central concept in the study of social oppression, especially from a Marxist perspective.
It does not cover the cost of living.
Meanwhile, the administration brings
in millions of dollars in terms of gate receipts, advertising, contracts, merchandise
sales, and alumni contributions.
