The explosive growth of the Internet since the early
1990's has made an impact on our culture and indeed our world
that will be compared in the future to the automobile, manned
flight and nuclear weapons. The Internet is a tremendous source
for good with informational and educational material in abundance.
Unfortunately the Internet also has a dark side. Letters and
eyewitness accounts testify to us every day on the tragic
destruction of relationships because of un-controlled Internet
behaviors. Violent and erotic online games have stolen the
innocence of our youth. Unmonitored chat room activity leads
to abducted children and broken marriages on a daily basis.
That is why every family member, not just children need filtered
Internet. Filtered Internet is not the complete answer but
it is a big step in protecting yourself and your family. If
you, or a member of your family, are struggling with an Internet
issue, please visit one of our partnering ministries for assistance.
American Family Online is dedicated to making the Internet
as safe as possible. Unfortunately, there is much more to it
than blocking pornographic and violent sites. Aside from prayer,
we believe knowledge is the best weapon to protecting your kids.
Before you let anyone in your family (including yourself) "surf
the net" please read how to best protect yourself and your family.
We would also add, never (even with protected internet service)
let your kids browse the internet without keeping a close eye
on where they are going. The best way to do this is to have
the computer located in an area of the house that has a lot
of traffic, like the living room. If this is not an option make
sure the computer is where you can see the screen at a moments
notice. In other words, the moment you walk into the room you
should be able to see screen. Safety Tips from the FBI
Pornography is not about sex or the need for sex. Pornography
is about relationships - or the lack of them - and the painful
desire lack of emotional intimacy creates. Legitimate emotional
needs have become sexualized - attached to sexual feelings -
and misrepresented. The momentary thrill of the response from
our body and soul makes us forget, just for a little bit, the
painful lack of real intimate relationships. The more we indulge
in pornography, the more we distract ourselves from dealing
with the real issues of the heart, the deeper the addiction
goes and the longer it will take to identify and deal with the
core issues. In the past, there was much more of a decision
factor in looking at pornography. You had to make the decision
to go out and buy the stuff. Your need for intimacy may go back
to your family and your desire for legitimate intimacy with
your parent of the same or opposite gender. For most of us,
the filter American Family Online provides will allow you to
Elizabeth Johnson Harris was born in Augusta, Georgia,
in 1867 to parents who had been slaves. Her 85 page handwritten
memoir provides glimpses of her early childhood, of race relations,
of her own ambivalence about her place as an African-American
in society, and of the importance of religion and education
in her life. This on-line collection includes full text of her
memoirs as well as several of her poems and vignettes that were
published in various newspapers during her lifetime. Vilet Lester

Send an email to your Senators and Representative asking
them to stop the abuse by contacting the major networks. Tell
them to get personally involved to make sure our children aren't
subjected to condom ads on television. Wednesday, May 18, 2005
According to Advertising Age magazine, the four major networks
are closer to airing ads for condoms than ever before. In February,
the networks were "leaning" toward prime-time commercials for
condoms. Now, condom maker Church & Dwight says it "plans
to get ads for Trojan condoms on prime-time TV within a month."
The networks have completely ignored thousands of viewer emails
asking them not to air condom ads during the hours our children
watch television. Please ask your Senators and Representative
to get involved. They have been instrumental in getting the
networks to shun hard-liquor ads.

Plot Summary: This movie re-creates the life stories
of the members of the rock group "The Beach Boys. I usually
trash TV movies to pieces but I can't do it to this one! I am
not a big Beach Boys fan and you don't have to be to like this
TV movie. Kevin Dunne does such a great job of portraying the
Murry Wilson character that by the end of the movie you almost
feel sorry for him because he wants so desperately to be loved
and respected by his sons, but he just doesn't get what a jerk
he is. Also, unlike most TV movies made today, the facts are
presented very accurately. In 1990, there was another TV movie
about the Beach Boys called Summer Dreams and it is notable
how consistent the two movies parallel each other. Unlike Summer
Dreams, which focuses mainly on Dennis Wilson, this movie adds
much more detail but ends with the Beach Boys mid-1970s come-back
whereas Summer Dreams ends with Dennis Wilson's death in 1983.

(AgapePress) - The Mississippi-based American Family
Association is announcing the end of its years-long protest
against the Walt Disney Company. For nine years, the pro-family
organization has urged its supporters to avoid anything Disney,
but the boycott has now officially come to an end. AFA president
Tim Wildmon says there are a number of reasons for this recent
decision, and chief among those reasons is what he calls "a
culturally crowded battlefield." The ministry's leadership decided
it was time to end the boycott, he explains, "because there
are so many other issues we need to move on to and deal with
that are taking our time and energy, and we feel like, if you're
going to call for a boycott of a company -- if something has
become that serious -- you need to have all your resources behind
it." Also, Wildmon and others at AFA believe some of the initial
concerns that caused the ministry to call the boycott have been
addressed. "We feel like Disney, in
(AgapePress) - Two prominent pro-family groups are applauding
last week's announcement that the Department of Justice has
established a task force devoted exclusively to the investigation
and prosecution of obscenity cases. Both the Family Research
Council and the American Family Association view the development
as good news for those who are concerned about protecting the
nation's children. According to a May 5 press release from the
DOJ, the Obscenity Prosecution Task Force will focus on investigating
and prosecuting distributors of hard-core pornography that meets
the test for obscenity, as defined by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Assistant Attorney General Christopher Wray stated that while
the Justice Department will continue to respect and protect
individuals' First Amendment rights, "the welfare of America's
families and children demands that we enforce the laws on the
books." That is all good news to Tony Perkins, president of
the Family Research Council. Taylor is
