have an image of being animal rescuers. And there's no question
that the many Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
around the country do a lot of good work, rushing in to save
animals from abusive people. But some people who've had animals
taken away by animal rescuers say some SPCAs have acted like
petty tyrants on power trips. During the late nineteenth century
there was a case that sparked American interest, the story of
a little girl called Mary Ellen, so abused by her FOSTER mother
that New York's Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
had to step in and protect her.

tradition for more than 100 years. We've planned a variety of
special family activities, including an Easter egg roll/hunt,
the "Zoo Olympics," and crafts, as well as entertainment ranging
from children's dance troupes to costumed characters and storytellers.
You'll also enjoy a fabulous food bazaar and meet Smithsonian
scientists, who will share their ongoing work with African animals
such as the kori bustard, cheetah, gorilla, and gaboon viper.
Admission is free, and this fun-filled day traditionally welcomes

(AgapePress) - It may be flying under the radar of the
mainstream media, but pro-family groups have detected the unmistakable
signal that pornographers in America are readying to attack
families via what is fast becoming standard equipment for many
children and teens: cell phones. Representatives from the American
Family Association, Morality in Media, and Family Research Council
met recently with members of the Federal Communications Commission
to discuss ways to allow consumers to block pornographic digital
file transfer information from cell phones. Pat Trueman, a former
prosecutor with the Department of Justice who is now with FRC,
attended the meeting on Monday (May 9). According to Trueman,
the FCC "is open to suggestions to resolve issues as it relates
to this [problem]." In addition, he says, the federal agency
"does not have a plan yet that it is seriously considering"
to face this new problem of cell phone porn. While the Colorado
